Port of Newcastle is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst on a full time permanent ongoing basis. Working closely with the Deputy CFO and Financial Analyst team, the ideal candidate will have exposure in financial modelling and analysis; investment analysis; funding and liquidity reporting and supporting business strategic initiatives. The Financial Analyst will:
  • Manage the maintenance of the Corporate Model and assist in continuous improvement
  • Work closely with the Commercial/Business Development teams in evaluating investment opportunities
  • Critically analyse information to inform management on the viability of certain investments
  • Analysis of monthly trade volumes and associated revenues
  • Involvement in ESG related analysis

The successful candidate will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Finance, Commerce, or other relevant business or management discipline
  • Experience with complex financial analysis and modelling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Skills in negotiating and influencing
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Working towards, or desire to work towards a CA, CPA, CFA qualification
Ideally, the candidate will have exposure to infrastructure assets and complex tax structures; debt market transactions; and an appreciation of the maritime, port, transport, or resources industries. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate a successful track record in working both independently and as part of a team on high-pressure, time-sensitive and confidential projects.
