The importance of prioritising phone conversations

Despite the rise of digital communication, phone calls remain an essential part of conducting business. While emails and instant messaging may be viewed as a more convenient option, they often lack the personal touch that comes with speaking to someone over the phone. Unlike written communication, phone calls allow individuals to convey emotions, tone, and personality, which are crucial for building trust and establishing rapport. Communication via phone calls can be more effective in conveying complex ideas and resolving customer complaints and enquiries.

Especially in the case of servicing your customers, phone calls can lead to faster resolution and improved customer satisfaction. Speaking to someone over the phone allows for the opportunity to show empathy, build a relationship, and address their concerns directly. It can also help prevent miscommunications and misunderstandings that may arise from written communications.

Similarly, phone calls can be more effective in collaborating with colleagues or partners on complex projects. It can provide an opportunity to discuss ideas and strategies in real-time, ask questions, and get immediate feedback. This can ultimately lead to more efficient and productive teamwork.

Phone calls can be a valuable tool for networking and building relationships with potential clients or partners. It provides an opportunity to make a personal connection, establish rapport, and demonstrate expertise or knowledge in a particular field, a call allows the individual on the other end of the line to recognise that they are speaking to another person who may have value to add to their business.

While email and instant messaging have become the norm for communication in the digital age, phone calls remain a vital part of conducting business. Strong telephone communication skills in individuals are becoming increasingly harder to find due to the new age communication styles people have become accustom to, but it’s important to never underestimate the power of a call.
